If there is anything that the iPad has been promising, it is the ability to put away your pencils, pends, crayons, paints and paper and use this wonderful electronic device to draw. But a lot of the apps currently out there just don’t live up to the iPad standard and do not deliver on the promise.

Then came Sketchbook Pro for the iPad. By Autodesk Inc. and selling for $7.99 on the iTunes store.Autodesk's Sketchbook Pro This does live up to the challenge and promise. It delivers on the goods. But be forewarned, it is highly addictive and you will find that your iPad has taken the place of your favorite Gel Pens. Move over Crayola!

Drawing on the iPad using Sketchbook Pro gives the user the look and feel of creating limitless artwork on VERY expensive paper. You use your fingers to manipulate color, shape and outline. All kinds of tools are at your disposal and all of them are very good. Finger and hand gestures help you work your way around the canvas and tool box. You will want to go out and buy a Stylus though, as your finger cannot get the fine details needed for many works of art. With a sylus in hand you will feel like saying goodbye to paper and pen and just going electronic! Excellent app!
