Neo-Pagan Modern Thoughts On Society

Category Archives: Entertainment

Rush opened his big trap again and spews more poison! Rush is certainly mush, and nothing out of his void-like trap can be considered serious commentary. We have to learn not to give this double chip and dip, flabby potato head the hype heis seeking by repeating his filth!

Netflix was one of those rare companies that provided a valuable service at a low cost to thousands of people. Streaming video coupled with DVD by mail in an instantaneous manner contributed to an instant success. Stock soared. Word of mouth spread. Subscribers signed on to the Netflix service. Even as the world economy plummeted to all time lows all around, Netflix was still raking in profits and looking like a guaranteed succes in the manner of Apple.

Then Netflix’s CEO made a huge error. An error in judgement based on his own pride and greed. He increased the subscription fees and reduced the services rendered. Huge mistake!

The old adage “Don’t fix something that ain’t broke” applys to this Netflix folly. In an economy that prides itself on instability, frugality and the demise of the modern day company, Netflix had committed a huge blunder. But what made it worse is that later, after they started feeling their boat lighten as thousands of subscribers jumped ship to find better options, the power hungry Netflix CEO sent out a mass email stating that he felt the change was “good” for the company and was the “right direction” for Netflix. Wow. Sad. And he got to be CEO how?

Not only did Netflix make a huge mistake initially by increasing their customers costs and reducing their services but then they waited a really long time to send out a silly “half apology” that let everyone know that they were going to stick to their guns and that the customer was not always right. In fact, Netflix said “the customer is blatently WRONG”. Netflix disrespected their customer base.

Now Netflix is paying a deep price and is officially in serious trouble. Their stock has plummeted to ridiculous lows as their customers are continuing to jump ship. While the previous jumpers have already found ulterior methods of getting video services either streaming or by mail. Unfortunately for Netflix, even if they chose to redact their previous statements and positions, the damage has been done and the competition has stolen their customer base. Their job would be much harder to win back their evacuated loyalists.

And we wonder why corporate America is failing? With CEO’s like Netflix’s own, who needs enemies?

Image of Ryu from Street Fighter video games.Sometimes songs can mirror life. You hear the song and the lyrics make sense to you and you can relate. Really relate. And finally that song that you kind of liked in the past really becomes that much more important to you. We all have those songs, they may even be favorite or they may have become our “Ally McBealtheme songs (for those who get that!)

I am going to randomly post some lyrics from some important songs in my life, songs that have meaning and inspiration and sound good too! Hope you all enjoy and leave comments if the song has a story to tell for you!

My first is Christina Aguilera’sFighter“:

(After all you put me through
You’d think I’d despise you
But in the end, I wanna thank you
‘Cause you made me that much stronger)

Well I thought I knew you,
Thinking that you were true
Guess I, I couldn’t trust,
Called your bluff, time is up
‘Cause I’ve had enough
You were there, by my side,
Always down for the ride
But your joy ride just came down in flames
‘Cause your greed sold me out in shame, mhm

After all of the stealing and cheating
You probably think that I hold resentment for you
But uh uh, oh no, you’re wrong
‘Cause if it wasn’t for all that you tried to do
I wouldn’t know, just how capable
I am to pull through
So I wanna say thank you
‘Cause it

Makes me that much stronger
Makes me work a little bit harder
Makes me that much wiser
So thanks for making me a fighter
Made me learn a little bit faster
Made my skin a little bit thicker
Makes me that much smarter
So thanks for making me a fighter

Oh, oh, oh, oh
Ooh, yeah, oh

Never saw it coming,
All of your backstabbing
Just so you could cash in
On a good thing before I’d realized your game
I heard you’re going ’round
Playin’ the victim now
But don’t even begin
Feeling I’m the one to blame
‘Cause you dug your own grave, mm

After all of the fights and the lies
Guess you’re wanting to haunt me
But that won’t work anymore
No more, uh uh, it’s over
‘Cause if it wasn’t for all of your torture
I wouldn’t know how to be this way now
And never back down
So I wanna say thank you
‘Cause it

Makes me that much stronger
Makes me work a little bit harder
Makes me that much wiser
So thanks for making me a fighter
Made me learn a little bit faster
Made my skin a little bit thicker
Makes me that much smarter
So thanks for making me a fighter

How could this man I thought I knew
Turn out to be unjust, so cruel?
Could only see the good in you
Pretended not to see the truth
You tried to hide your lies,
Disguise yourself
Through living in denial
But in the end you’ll see
You won’t stop me

I am a fighter and I
(I’m a fighter)
I ain’t gonna stop
(I ain’t gonna stop)
There is no turning back
I’ve had enough

Makes me that much stronger
Makes me work a little bit harder
Makes me that much wiser
So thanks for making me a fighter
Made me learn a little bit faster
Made my skin a little bit thicker
Makes me that much smarter
So thanks for making me a fighter

Thought I would forget, but I
I remember
Yes, I remember
I remember

Thought I would forget
I remember
Yes, I remember
I’ll remember

Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh

Makes me that much stronger
Makes me work a little bit harder
Makes me that much wiser
So thanks for making me a fighter
Made me learn a little bit faster
Made my skin a little bit thicker
Makes me that much smarter
So thanks for making me a fighter

Congressman Anthony Weiner has finally, tearfully admitted that he has been Sexting women. For those wondering, Sexting is the term for texting dirty pictures or texts. Currently there are more texts sent worldwide than actual phone calls. Texting has become a valid form of communication used by most everyone. And more and more people are being busted Sexting too!

Why do married people participate in Sexting? And is it a form of cheating?

If there wasn’t something wrong about Sexting, Weiner would not have had to lie. Obviously Weiner knew it was wrong. The guild overloaded him and forced him to tearfully admit that he lied all of these days about being accused of Sexting. Twitterpated on Twitter? And then busted with his pants down!

The real fact is that yes indeed, Sexting is a form of cheating! Sorry guys! I know a lot of you out there, who are happily married, contribute to Sexting via Twitter and other social media. Facebook is proving to be one of the largest contributors to marriage breakup and infidelity. Social media lends itself to cheating and opens doors to people everywhere. Sure, you may never actually meet the real person, but sending x-rated language and images of yourself in your tighty-whiteys, is indeed inappropriate if you are married or in a relationship. It’s just like phone sex, or meeting at midnight at Motel 6!

We need to get a hold of ourselves and start acting responsibly. Just because it’s only electronic communication, does not expunge you from all your real life commitments. Weiner should be an example for us all. Learn from him, don’t emulate him!

Image of a date.Online dating has become on the fastest ways people connect now. You build a profile on sites like Match.com, and start searching for your perfect match.┬áBut is it such a good idea to date online and isn’t it the responsibility of the hosting site to make sure that their service does not become a tool for sexual predators to stalk their prey?

Currently a law suit against Match.com is claiming that the site needs to complete background checks on its subscribers before they are allowed to connect with others and find love. The court case is hinging on a woman’s story of having a Match.com date follow her up to her apartment, use the bathroom, only to emerge and rape her in her own apartment.

Match.com’s argument is that “with over a million subscribers there is no way for the agency to complete background checks on all of them.” That is the biggest bag of bull I have ever heard.

Of course Match.com has the capability to complete background checks on its subscribers! They are a digital dating agency with the technology, and all of the personal data needed to find out anything about their subscribers. Not only CAN they do it and do it easily, but it is absolutely THEIR RESPONSIBILITY! No exception.

Each subscriber must give detailed personal information when signing up, which is verified with a credit card. Date of birth, address, phone number, email address, full name, credit card number. Basics used for any background check.

Perhaps Match.com does not realize that there is this nifty modern tool called a computer now? Perhaps Match.com is caught up in their own greed. They have no problem charging their subscribers credit cards on a timely basis, so it seems like they have learned the knack of tech overlording already.

Certainly people who risk dating online have a responsibility for themselves too. They should go out and meet a complete stranger in a lonely alley or park at night. They should meet in public and only after they have spoken to the person on the phone for a good amount of time, like a few months. People online lie. The ability to be whomever you would like to be online is part of the appeal. I used to have a male roommate who used to work from home for a 976 phone sex web site. He disguised his voice as a woman, and participated in phone sex with thousands of straight men on a daily basis. Describing himself with the proportions of a Playboy centerfold model, in reality he was more like a big nerdy gorilla. Online relationships should be taken with a grain of salt. You must absolutely use your REAL social skills to meet your perfect match and weed out the gorillas in the mist.

Image of fingers busy texting.California is waging a war in April against drivers who are distracted. The forces that be are particularly targeting people who are texting while they are driving. Finally!

For one month drivers in California will need to be aware, as the authorities will be out and watching drivers passing by for the tell-tale signs of texting while driving, or other distracted practices, like putting on makeup, drinking coffee, changing your radio station while bent over. Anything that takes your eyes off the road and puts their focus on some other area.

Its about time! People are texting while driving more than ever. I think that Oprah‘s challenge to stop actually encouraged people to text more in rebellion, because shortly after that it seemed like nearly every car you pass on the road was driven by a mad texter.

It is seriously frustrating to drive near or around someone who is texting. They drive either too slow or madly fast. Wizzing through blood orange colored stop lights while madly tapping a keyboard. Or how about the woman putting on eyeliner in the morning commute while driving with her elbows, one eye in the mirror – one eye on the road. That takes skill!

The penalty for texting while driving is not steep enough. $159 for your first offense. COME ON! Thats chump change guys! Here is a perfect opportunity to raise money for a failing economy and perhaps rejuvenate collapsing city structures. How about a first offense penalty of $1000. Aren’t lives worth $1000? After all it only takes one text and a blown stop sign to kill someone. Seems fair to me. Most of the texting I have witnessed around town seems to be coming from well kept, newer vehicles too. So I think the owners can afford a steep charge like $1000. Not to mention madly texting, super sized, gas guzzling SUV drivers. They can totally afford the penalty if the text is THAT important.

Distracted driving costs lives. People are going to do it, because the people doing it are already so self-centered and ignorant that they don’t realize that they are not the only one out on the road in the first place. Perhaps a stiffer penalty to bring them into the real world for a change. And that would actually help in many other ways as well. Maybe they would start being more courteous even? Maybe they would learn to use their turn signal? Maybe they would realize, with nothing else to look at, that their car IS equipped with an ashtray for their own cancer ridden self to use?

On the other hand, yesterday, one man was pulled over in Sacramento for talking on his cell phone. While the officer was issuing the ticket, the man continued his phone conversation because it was “a very important call.” If its that important you really should not be driving anyway? DUH?

Image of Donald Trump and his REALLY bad hair.We are in the middle of some really scary times. Our economy is falling to pieces, just like the song. Our Real Estate market is tanking. There is serious unrest in the middle east, is there ever peace there? The Tea Party seems to be a popular party for weapon carrying, angry militia. There is open discrimination against certain groups of people and marriage, and its funded primarily by the Mormons. Mormons are just scary anyway. The price of our groceries is skyrocketing. The price of gasoline is skyrocketing. Elizabeth Taylor has passed away. Jersey Shores is still popular. American Idol is fading into the netherworlds. Baggy pants dropping to show underwear is still a mildly valid fashion. Sarah Palin still can speak. Charlie Sheen has his own stage performance, and people are paying to see it. States can’t balance their budgets. There is a potential Federal government shutdown looming this Friday.

And finally, Donald Trump is running for president of the United States.

Really?

No, REALLY?

Seriously?

Oh, REALLY?

How can the man with more money than God and the pusher of the golden corporate way not have received the inter-office memo about hair? How can he not know what a makeover is? Does he not know that a smile doubles your value?

And you thought we have problems now….
