We move into 2011 with caution but an open mind. As we do that, let us not forget some of the important lessons from previous years (as we often do). Lets look at some of the sure fire signs that something will fail:

  1. Fast Food Restaurants – fail if they are in fact “not fast”.
  2. Gourmet Food Merchants – fail if they sell Spam and other non-gourment items.
  3. Discount Merchants – fail if their prices are higher than other merchants.
  4. Political Parties – fail if their “less government” ideals include creating laws that regulate who can marry.
  5. Political Agendas – fail if they base their party on fighting for freedom and yet want to strip freedoms away from others.
  6. Health Care Reform – fails when its not reforming anything at all, but mandating that people do something.
  7. Actors/Actresses – fail if they can’t act at all but only play themselves on the screen.
  8. Short Cuts – fail if they make it longer to get to your destination.
  9. Streamlining Ideas – fails if they make simple job tasks take longer and require more paper.
  10. New Technology – fails if it is not new and revolutionary at all but just another way to do the same old thing.
  11. Economy Improvement – fails if it is driven by people who have other agendas, like getting rich quick.
