Neo-Pagan Modern Thoughts On Society

Sad that laws have been passed and still nobody read the memo nor heard about the new laws while sipping Starbucks near the water cooler at work.

Oprah, as only Oprah can do, has issued her “No Phone Zone” challenge to the country. And what that actually means is, no phone calls or texting while driving.

Interesting that nobody seems to be listening to Oprah or taking her challenge. Everywhere you drive you see people happily chatting away from the fast lane of the freeway as they cruise past the rest of traffic at high communications speeds, or rapid fire finger texting drivers trying to navigate four lanes of traffic and not being able to choose one lane at the same time as texting “yo, LOL”.

Sad that laws have been passed and still nobody read the memo nor heard about the new laws while sipping Starbucks near the water cooler at work. Or are they just making the conscious decision to ignore them and do things their own way anyway?

Abuse of the laws continues every single day with obviously no ramifications. You never see anyone pulled over for texting or talking nor do you see any obvious policing. Its wanton disregard for law and now of course wonton disregard for Oprah!

Now, don’t get me wrong, I really dislike Oprah. I think she has reached that elevated head status that few achieve. It takes years and years of telling herself “I am SOMEBODY dammit!” And it takes years and years of people following her like dim witted sheep leaping off cliffs of substandard literature recommendations. BUT I have to hand it to Oprah, she is attempting to reign in the havoc and steer the witless sheep away from the deadly texting cliffs.

But has Oprah failed? Just driving across town, I have noticed at least one person driving with phone pressed frantically to ear, trying to get the message across the cellular network, “I am going to cut her if she looks at my man again!” Every single block. Every single city. Every single intersection.

Yes, sadly, Oprah you have failed. Nobody is listening. They will listen to you about spirituality advice. They will listen to you about the best books to read or not read. They will listen to you about recipes and the implications of eating too much. They will listen to you about abuse. And they will listen to you about self love. Everybody, including me, knows that Oprah is the queen of self love. But, no way are they going to listen to you about the perils of phone communications while driving, since everyone knows that “those” laws simply apply to everyone else!
